Careers

At Barrington we believe that introducing children to the world of work from an early age helps raise aspirations, broadens horizons and challenges stereotypes.  Career-related learning (CRL) supports pupils to understand how their learning links to life beyond school and builds the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need for future transitions.  

Throughout their time at Barrington, pupils will engage in careers-related learning through cross curricular links in subjects such as English, Maths and the wider curriculum.  In addition to this, they will learn about the world of work through assemblies, them days/weeks, visitors and education visits beyond the school.

 This year, the school has been working towards achieving the Primary Inspiring Careers Award through the Education Development Trust.   

The school has used the CDI Career Development Framework to focus on six key areas of learning that support lifelong career development.  Although in the early stages of this, we aim to map these key areas against our curriculum and identify links to a wide range of careers beyond Primary School.
